Vision

NESPEC envisions a Nepal in which:

  • A positive peace prevails as all human rights are respected
  • Justice reigns and there is an end to impunity for those who have violated the law
  • A strong economy guarantees the availability of quality jobs, healthcare, and education for all citizens
  • True democracy is reflected in a state structure accessible to all and in which all opinions are respected

Mission

NESPEC intends to increase the social, political, and economic access of oppressed groups by empowering them to advocate for, exercise, and preserve their rights.

Goals

1. Sustainably increase the standard of living and pace of development for Nepal's ultra-poor.

2. Increase social and political functioning of oppressed groups through community mobilization and raising awareness about democratic governance, peace, and human rights.

Objectives

1a. Given the necessity of cultivatable land in Nepal's agrarian economy, empower people to use advocacy to solve the problems they face resulting from landlessness and settlements in disputed areas.

1b. Work to make target groups self-reliant by organizing them and developing their skills and social capital.

1c. Support the promotion and innovation of rural, environmentally-friendly technologies that can be easily adapted to and taken advantage of by people in need.

1d. Promote sustainable agricultural and irrigation technologies to farmers with minimal land holdings and help them cultivate high-value crops.

1e. Help commercialize individuals engaged in small scale agriculture and micro-enterprises.

1f. Conduct programs to increase the involvement and access of women to income-generating work while increasing the involvement of men in domestic work.

2a. Conduct empowerment programs for women, people with disabilities, Dalits, Adiwasi, Janajati, Madheshi, and other communities, with particular sensitivity to organizing the oppressed populations within those groups to raise their voices.

2b. Focus on developing the future potential of at-risk children and youth through holistic programs targeted at their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth.

2c. Provide human rights awareness programs to generate positive societal change and reduce oppression, injustice, and exploitation by creatively expanding the ideas, knowledge, and skills of all.

2d. Work as a conduit to bring governmental policies and programs to the community and to bring issues from the community to its stakeholders.
